Pilates and Golf Conditioning
Golf. Even the name of this sport evokes a sense of calm and leisure. But golfers know how difficult the game is to play. Success hinges on the swing. The perfect golf swing requires balance, stability, strength, flexibility and power – all in a split second, and consistently for 18 holes.
To improve, players need a golf training program that will produce the greatest results in the most efficient amount of time. With its focus on core strength, flexibility, stability and balance, Pilates is a great tool for golf conditioning. It can improve a player's golf swing and help prevent the types of injuries that plague golfers.
"It's not the big muscles that you target, it's the little core muscles that give you stability and rotational speed."
Greg Norman, Sports Illustrated, April 13, 2009
Mary is proud to introduce her Pilates Golf Conditioning Program to clients and golf enthusiasts. This Pilates golf conditioning program is designed specifically to enhance the biomechanics of the golf swing through better body mechanics. This specialized program allows the golfer to hit the ball consistently farther and straighter while helping to eliminate back pain and reduce the risk of injury. The Pilates Golf Conditioning Program
Mary's golf conditioning program begins with an individualized session to assess the golfer's movement including postural alignment, flexibility, coordination, strength and balance as well as to evaluate any injuries, performance goals or other special considerations.
While some of the exercises and stretches may be familiar it is an understanding of the underlying Pilates techniques that make them so effective. Many of the exercises have been especially adapted to men's physical requirements, thus increasing rotation and flexibility in the neck, shoulders, torso, and upper back.
